Father Kevin's Jubilee Message

Years ending with 0 or 5 often hold a fascination for us.
Over the last few years we have celebrated the Millennium and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. When we reach a birthday with a 0 at the end or a 25th wedding anniversary we see it as a marking post that we should celebrate.
Therefore it would be strange indeed if in Holy Family parish we let 2005 go by without a word. Fr. Crawfurd, always fondly remembered as a kind and holy man, began saying Mass in Trelawney Avenue in August 1955.

Since then the parish has embedded itself in the local community and people coming from all parts of the world to live in this part of Slough have gathered to worship, to be educated and to enjoy social activities.
It is a story to be proud of.
As the year goes on we will take opportunities to remember what has happened over these past fifty years and ask God to renew us for the years ahead. The climax of our celebrations will be a Mass in the beautiful grounds of St. Bernard’s Convent on Sunday, September 18th.

This should be a wonderful year for our parish and I hope you can be part of the many events that have been organised.
In everything may we feel the closeness and encouragement of our God.
- Fr. Kevin
