| Over 1000 people attended our outdoor Jubilee Mass, held in the beautiful grounds of St. Bernards Convent, Slough on Sunday, 18th. September. The Mass was to celebrate 50 years of the Church in Langley. |
| The first Parish Priest, Fr. Crawfurd, said Mass in Trelawney Avenue in August 1955, until the present Church was opened two years later. Since then the Church in Langley has grown from strength to strength, with over 900 people worshiping there every Sunday. |

| Planning
for the celebration had been going on for months with
teams of willing volunteers giving up hours of their time
to assist with the preparations. The construction of the Mass site started on Saturday morning. |

"They
done it again !!! Well done the Holy Family Parish they
really know how to throw a party together." |
| Fr. Kevin writes :- Parishioners, visitors and guests have been very kind in their comments about our Jubilee Mass. We estimate that there were about 1100 people there (our usual Mass attendance is 800) and there is no doubt that it was a great parish occasion. Many people have commented on how well it was all arranged and that was because a whole number of people offered their time and their skills. I wish to thank them all. |

These were some of the big jobs that had to be done: getting the site ready, building a poly tunnel, preparing an altar, arranging flowers, setting up an effective public address system, rehearsing and leading music, producing a jubilee magazine, making sure people knew where to park, preparing readers and Eucharistic ministers, inviting guests, making announcements, leading altar servers, arranging a childrens liturgy of the Word, giving presents, encouraging us to take part in the Lenten project, organising bouncy castles and a childrens entertainer and clearing up after Mass. |
| Add to these tasks all the quieter things that had to be done, like offering to bring people to the Mass and looking after them, and you can see how many people were involved. I thank each and every one of you. Furthermore, I say a particular word of thanks to our hosts on the day, the Sisters of St. Bernard and St. Bernards School. We had nothing but full co-operation and help. Yes, it was a great event and one that the parish can be proud of. |
